When AI Takes the Wheel: The Mathematics of Keeping It Safe
European Researchers’ Night 2026, held on 24–25 September at the University St. Kliment Ohridski (UKLO) in Bitola, North Macedonia, brought together researchers, students, and the wider public to celebrate science, research, and innovation. Organised within the EU-funded CHOOSE SCIENCE project and in cooperation with the COLOURS European University Alliance, the event featured interactive scientific demonstrations, exhibitions, discussions, and activities designed to inspire young people to pursue careers in research. The initiative strengthened connections between academia and society while promoting scientific curiosity, knowledge exchange, and European research collaboration.
Ivana Bocevska, a PreDoc Researcher in Formal Methods in Systems Engineering (FORSYTE) group, participated in European Researchers’ Night 2026, where she presented her research during the Scientific Reflections roundtable and delivered a guest lecture at the Faculty of Information and Communication Technologies.
Her lecture, “When AI Takes the Wheel: The Mathematics of Keeping It Safe,” explored the role of mathematical methods and automated reasoning in ensuring the safety and reliability of AI-driven systems. The events provided an opportunity to share current research, engage with the academic community, and discuss challenges in developing trustworthy AI technologies.
